Rio movie had gone on to nab the top place of box office last week and managing to attract mostly family audiences to theaters Rio movie had also turned out to be the most successful one among the new openings. Animated theatrical features had boasts of a viewing crowds that had kids and adults alike so the grossing of $40 million comes as no wonder. And it also beat the top grossing animation flick Rango by about $2 million. Latest addition to popular horror thriller franchise Scream 4 movie seems to have failed to generate much scream for it had to be content with the second place at box office list. Moreover amount of $19.3 million cannot be mentioned as an impressive one for the previous installments had earned more.
Rio movie seemed to have manged to fair much better than it had been expected and it can be said that it might go on to do better in future too. The third place of box office list had been secured by Hop movie which had dominated the list for past two weeks and last week it had to gross an amount of $11.2 million. Live action and animated flick appears to have had to make space for two new openings. Biographical drama Soul Surfer movie which had been in fourth place last week had gone to secure the place this week as well and grossing an amount of $7.4 million the movie is sailing safe. However it is yet to be seen how it will fair in coming weeks.
While Rio movie rules the box office list by drawing family audiences the fifth place had been secured by action and thriller packed flick Hanna movie. It sure seems to have taken a big fall since last week it was in the second place. And this time it had manged to tuck an amount of $7.3 million under its belt. Following it had been comedy remake Arthur movie. This movie too seemed to have been made to take few steps down and it had manged to gross $6.94 million. So it remains to be seen how these movies will do among new openings.
