Benedict Cumberbatch is the latest addition to the stellar cast of The Hobbit movie and with this new join up of actor Benedict Cumberbatch this currently underway projects just got all the more interesting. As soon as the news began to circulates that this actor might be in for the project the next thing that set a buzz had been for what role he will be cast in. It seems quite a fascinating idea to see him as either Smaug the great dragon that protects a mound of gold or Bard the Bowman. Anyhow the former sounded perfect and ideal for the actor and viewers will be delighted to know that he will indeed be the vocal talent behind Smaug which will be brought to life through using motion capture.
Idea of Benedict Cumberbatch’s involvement in The Hobbit movie had been first hinted by Martin Freeman who is the leading man of the movie as he star as Bilbo Baggins. During an award ceremony he had let the matter slip that his Sherlock co star is in for the projects and soon enough the matter has been confirmed. After the revelation made by Freeman another cast member and this time Ian McKellen too had signaled that former mentioned actor could join them. Another fact that had been confirmed is that Luke Evans will play Bard the Bowman. This project has its shooting going on these days in full swing in Wellington and other undisclosed locations around New Zealand.
With Oscar winner Peter Jackson coming up with The Hobbit movie which is the prequel to his hugely popular franchise The Lord of the Rings fans audiences are already quite interested in the project. Though there had been some problems at the beginning it seems that now everything is settled and production is back on track. It will be quite interesting to see how Benedict Cumberbatch will make use of his not only vocal talents but also facial and physical expressions to give life to Smaug. Animated version of the dragon will be created through motion capture so it will be all the more fascinating to look forward.
