Green Lantern movie topped the week end box office by grossing most among the new opening and though it should be added that Green Lantern movie had not done remarkably it had nonetheless manged to draw large crowds to theaters. Making a $52.7 million domestically it comes as no wonder that this had been a crowd puller for the previews had promised this to be entertaining. Comparing to other comic book to motion picture adaptation this newly released flick falls behind Thor and X Men prequel. Last week winner Super 8 movie had to take one step down with the new opening of super hero flick but not before grossing $21.3 million. For a flick which has no star power to back it this sure appears doing quite impressively.
Though Green Lantern movie might not have been able to make the impression it had intend the studio is hoping that the flick will pick up more viewers in coming weeks. In the third place of box office list had been another new opening and this time it had been the family comedy Mr. Popper’s Penguins movie. Grossing of $18.2 million as its debut may not be quite impressive but it does not sound too bad either. Prequel to popular franchise X-Men: First Class movie had managed to secure the fourth place and though it has been three weeks since the movie has been released it it impressive to see the way the flick had manged to make a grossing of $11.5 million.
So it can be hoped that latest addition to genre of super hero flicks titled as Green Lantern movie might go on to do well in coming weeks. In the fifth place of box office list had been the comedy flick The Hangover Part II movie which had manged to do well by earning an amount of $9.6 million despite this being the fourth week since it has been released. Animation flick Kung Fu Panda 2 movie had secured the sixth place with a grossing of $8.7 million. And this is without adding up the amount it had made internationally.
