Crowds to gather in Colo. to celebrate 420, push for marijuana legalization

(CBS/AP) DENVER - 420, 4:20 or 4/20 is used by many to denote smoking marijuana, and pot smokers from Denver to Boulder are gathering today, April 20, to say "Happy 420" and call for the drug's legalization.
The festivities in Denver include a daylong rally in Civic Center Park. Tens of thousands are expected to gather in the downtown park at the annual concert, smoke-off and legalization rally.
Hackey sack, while not an official event at the gathering, seems likely to take place.
Organizers hope Denver's celebration of the drug is even bigger this year because it comes on the eve of a major national pot conference in Denver.
This year's event comes the day before the annual convention of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws, a prominent legalization group marking 40 years. This weekend's conference is drawing most Denver mayoral candidates and Colorado's Rep. Jared Polis, a Democrat who favors legalization.
Marijuana gatherings are also planned in Boulder, Colorado Springs and other cities.
But before anyone considers doing anything illegal today, perhaps they should consider this.
In a poll conducted in 2010 by the Associated Press and CNBC, 55 percent of Americans oppose legalizing marijuana and only 33 percent support it. Those numbers flip flopped for people under 30 with 54 percent in favor of legalizing the drug and 39 percent against.
Support for medical marijuana was widespread, the poll found. Sixty percent were in favor of medical marijuana and 74 percent believe the drug has a medical benefit. Fourteen states already permit medical marijuana. South Dakota will vote on the issue this fall.

Wisconsin's Good Friday Tradition

Here in Wisconsin, where Catholics are in the majority, observing the Friday fish rule during Lent is serious stuff, whether we happen to be Catholic or not. Actually, our Friday fish fry is an important tradition all year long.

But Good Friday is our main event. That's when we really pack the church basements and taverns and supper clubs and trendy restaurants. And we are all going to order the exact same thing. A real honest-to-goodness Wisconsin fish fry. My mouth waters just thinking about:

• Beer battered, deep fried fish, usually cod or perch
• tartar sauce & a slice of lemon
• French fries (and/or potato pancakes with applesauce)
• Coleslaw
• Rye bread & butter

We spend the rest of the year searching for the best fish fry, plotting the next week's target, risking dark back alleys, scouring the local newspapers for review clues.  Then we meet with friends and compare notes.

It's all about the journey.

Kate Hudson On Her Love For Matthew Bellamy

In a recent interview, Kate Hudson opened up on how she met boyfriend Matthew Bellamy. Since announcing her pregnancy with him, many people have wondered about her British beau. They exchanged numbers and the rest fell into place. Hudson immediately felt protected by Bellamy. Considering the fact that she describes herself as “all over the place,” this meant a lot to her. She calls him a polite, amazing person that communicates and shows his love. Kate also reveals that, despite the stereotype of meeting “the one,” she didn’t initially feel a spark between them and didn’t expect him to be the one she’d end up with.

“In the beginning I felt like, okay, this is going to be heavy. Am I prepared for this? Because it had been a while, and I wasn’t looking for that. But I just couldn’t stay away. I wanted to talk to him and be with him all the time. On our first dates we would take long walks and talk the entire day.”

Hudson’s pregnancy was unplanned, but the two did feel that having a child seemed like a natural progression. She says that she and Matthew’s love and excitement makes up for the unexpectedness.
